Bio:

Based in Rhode Island, vocalist, Tish Adams has life-long ties to Cape Cod. Her parents and much of her extended family live here. You may recognize her from many recurring guest appearances at the Grand Cru (Cape Codder, Hyannis), the Provincetown Jazz Festival and more, with prominent drummer, bandleader and educator, Bart Weisman. She's also performed with The Wayne Naus Quintet at the Cultural Cultural Center of Cape Cod. More recently, under her own name, she has made recurring Sunday Jazz Brunch appearances for ArtsFalmouth's annual Jazztober celebrations. In August of 2021, Adams joined the roster of musicians offering Sunday Jazz Brunch performances at The West End in Hyannis.

Tish has grown her 1986 Jazz debut, a stunning theatrical portrayal of song-stylist, Dakota Staton (Celebrity Club Remembered, Providence RI), into the multi-faceted artistic life she enjoys today. From tiny neighborhood pubs to black-tie galas, civic events to supper clubs, her compelling delivery continues to win the hearts of countless fans. They compare her to the stylish and sophisticated “Great Ladies of Jazz.” Instrumentalists say, “She’s not just a singer. She’s a musician.” Her performances are seasoned with long-forgotten gems, a touch of the unexpected and a dash of the Blues. Her range, versatility and extensive repertoire take many by surprise. Inspired and imaginative with phrasing and tempos, she serves up fresh interpretations of time-honored Standards, in passionate tribute to the rich Jazz tradition. Tish Adams can make old songs new again, with a style that is all her own.

Tish wears many hats off stage, as well. She lives her motto, “Jazz, Blues and a few Surprises.” As a performance coach, she offers private and group workshops, giving many the opportunity to discover and develop their own vocal dreams.

Adams is always looking for ways that she can use her talents and the music she loves, to bring people together, while encouraging them to support the Arts, their community and each other.

Tish's weekly radio program, "The Vocalists & Localists Show," has aired Thursday mornings for 25 years and counting on 90.3 FM WRIU, Kingston/www.wriu.org. This commercial-free, non-profit station broadcasts from the University of Rhode Island and streams worldwide. Using this platform to offer her radio listeners a wide spectrum of Jazz vocalists (past, present and up-and-coming) and showcase the many talented Jazz artists (vocal and/or instrumental) who call New England home. She includes occasional live interviews and a comprehensive weekly calendar of Jazz-related events and performances.

Tish’s Jazz worlds collide at her WRIU Jazz Live Nights. These events bring her concert fans & radio listeners together in the Live Jazz world, to meet the WRIU Jazz DJ’s face to face and enjoy a live band all while using their consumer dollars to support area Jazz venues.

In June of 2020, when the Corona Virus brought all performances to a grinding halt, Tish kept Live Music going, by starting a very small, socially distanced concert series, from an undisclosed Rhode Island driveway. Together, with new friends Sam Kopper (audio), Ed Krasnow (video), and sponsorship from acclaimed RI music venue, Pump House Music Works, she used the series' proceeds and online tips to provide paid gigs to many of New England’s finest musicians (including herself), also making charitable donations and giving very small audiences a safe & joyful Live Music Experience. This experience could also be shared, free of charge, with anyone through online streaming at www.musicseenconcerts.com and live radio broadcast/stream from 90.3 FM WRIU. At summer’s end, she lost her venue and talented techs to a reopening world. Knowing that the world would not fully reopen to live performance for a long time to come, she was determined to proceed on her own. She found a beautiful new venue and continues to host concerts from world-class artists at two Rhode Island Music venues. “Tish Adams Presents…” offers concerts, to an In-Person Only audience, at The Music Mansion in Providence. Music Seen Concerts continues, In-Person and Live Stream, at Pump House Music Works in Wakefield.

Tish's surprises are always creative, but not always musical. She also teaches a craft workshop out of her recycling bin, for the OLLI @ URI program and is a popular Portrait Model for many area Arts organizations. Somehow though, all roads seem to lead her back to music. Modeling inspired her Art & Jazz Bash, an event that brings the Fine Art and Jazz communities together to mix, mingle and meet the artists, at a live concert and pop-up gallery.

Vocalist Tish Adams is one busy lady. Ask her what she does for a living? She’ll flash you a smile and say... “I make FUN!”
