Scamps New Year's Comedy Show 2021

Presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts at Cotuit Center for the Arts

After a year away, Cotuit Center for the Arts will produce its second-ever New Year’s Eve Night of Live Comedy with double-headliner shows on Friday, December 31, at 7 and 9 p.m.

Presented in partnership with Scamps Comedy, the show is hosted by local favorite Jim Ruberti and headlined by two of Boston’s top comedians: Bob Niles and Jason Merrill.

“We’re very excited to bring this back on New Year’s Eve,” Center for the Arts Executive Director David Kuehn said. “We did our first New Year's Eve Comedy show in 2019, and think it provides a nice New Year’s Eve experience for anyone living on Cape Cod.”

The show is appropriate for adults (18-plus), and there will be a cash bar. Tickets are $35, $33 for seniors, and $30 for members. There is also an “early bird discount” with all tickets $25 if purchased before midnight on December 7.

Bob Niles has been a New England headliner for more than 25 years, headlining shows at comedy clubs, theaters, Elks clubs, country clubs, Rotary clubs, and just regular traffic rotaries. Niles has lived an unusual life, and when he examines this life for people to see, the results are pure dynamite! Bob was just 20 years old when his first child was born, and his second child came when he was 46!! What happened in between gets looked at and the results are hilarious. From the Woodstock-generation to the 21st century, Niles has been a confused observer and a baffled participant.

Jason Merrill is the latest from a recent line of hysterical comedians from the great city of Lawrence, Massachusetts. He has wowed audiences with his streetwise style and good-natured exuberance. Drawing upon his own experiences, he finds the funny in everyday life. The 2021 Hampton Beach Comedy Festival selection has shared the stage with accomplished comedians such as Juston McKinney, Lenny Clarke, Christine Hurley, Joe Yannetty, Jimmy Dunn and Steve Sweeney.

Barnstable’s Jim Ruberti is Boston comedian and actor who has been entertaining people for well over 30 years, starting as a child in the theaters of Cape Cod performing with Broadway actors such as John Raitt or Theordore Bikel, and progressing into roles as an adult at venues like the Barnstable Comedy Club. He has been a comic fundraising auctioneer and event host for more than 10 years, and a stand-up comedian working stages around New England. As a stand-up, he’s shared the stage with Boston headliners such as Lenny Clarke, Steve Sweeney, Paul Nardizzi, Mike McDonald, Dave Rattigan and Steve Bjork.
