Someday soon, those who join us for this concert of two rising stars will look back and congratulate themselves for being at the start of something great. Critics have likened the music of Kaiti Jones to that of Julia Jacklin, Phoebe Bridgers, Sharon Van Etton, and Tom Petty, highlighting Jones’ natural penchant for honest, poetic lyricism set to a backdrop with a warm, bright, inviting blend of indie folk and rock.

A Boston-based indie-folk/rock artist who writes songs to make sense of the world, as potent storytellers do, Jones writes song that are rooted in existential angst or failed romances that grow into retrospective anecdotes. Her sophomore album, Tossed, released in March 2021, garnered acclaim from NPR Music, American Songwriter, KUTX, WBUR The Artery, Front Row Boston, Paste, and Glide Magazine, among others. American Songwriter considered it “strikingly sensible and occasionally humorous … a natural, but well-polished soundscape.”

Performing with Jones is Dietrich Strause, whose songs are a mix of timeless melody, literate lyricism, and a “virtuosic command of imagery.” (The Artery, WBUR). His blend of midcentury modern pop and atomic-age folk has drawn comparisons to M. Ward and a young Paul Simon and has garnered him invitations to support folk luminaries such as Sarah Jarosz and Anais Mitchell, as well as indie pop acts like Darlingside and Lake Street Dive.
