Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History is proud to present “Hand Weaving” by artist Gretchen Romey-Tanzer Now through December 30, 2021*
Gretchen’s stunning handwoven pieces are made with fine cotton thread, using a double weave technique. The finished fabric is hand-sewn to a stretched linen canvas over a wood frame for hanging on a wall. Her works are in the collections of The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The Indianapolis Museum of Art, and many private collections. In 2019, she was awarded a Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist’s Fellowship in Crafts.
Gretchen has been weaving, teaching, and living on Cape Cod for 35 years and is now running The Tanzer Weaving Studio and Gallery at 2623 Main St. in Brewster. The studio is open to individuals interested in learning to weave or expand their weaving skills. Visit her website at: www.tanzerfiberworks.com
