Sandwich Adirondack Chair Trail Silent Auction

Sandwich Adirondack Chair Trail Silent Auction

Presented by Sandwich Arts Alliance at Sagamore Inn

Take Home An Adirondack Chair & Support The Arts

You’ve seen them all summer, now you can own one! Bid on your favorite 2021 Adirondack Chair at the Sandwich Arts Alliance Silent Auction taking place on Friday, September 10th from 5-7 pm under the tent at the Sagamore Inn Restaurant on Route 6A in Sagamore.

Free to the public, the auction promises to be an enjoyable evening for all who attend with refreshments served, live music provided by Sandwich Arts Alliance (SAA) musicians, and the chance to bid on one of the 26 decorated Adirondack chairs that have spent the summer outside various sites and businesses in Sandwich. Guests can remain under the tent or dine at the Sagamore Inn and return later to check on their bids.

A raffle will be held as well for the Adirondack chair currently on display at the Sandwich Arts Alliance. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the SAA Center & Gallery or at the event ($5 each or 3 for $10).

“Our last chair auction in 2019 was a huge success which helped showcase the enormous talent of our artists and our local businesses who support them”, offered SAA President Kathy Aubin.  “This year, it’s bigger and better! More chairs, more sponsors, and more opportunities to win a stunning piece of public art for your own use. Come and join us under the party tent at The Sagamore Inn for a delightful late summer evening!”

At the start of the Adirondack Chair Trail program, the artists and business owners were held in suspense until the “Big Reveal” in May when the chairs were matched with their sponsors. By Memorial Day the chairs were installed at their designated locations which attracted new customers and visitors to the businesses and organizations all season.

The Adirondack Chair Trail provided a weekly Kids’ Adirondack Chair Coloring Contest at the SAA Center, awarding winners with an ice cream cone from Twin Acres Sandwich Shoppe. Maps were available at the SAA Center and all 26 locations so that residents and tourists could take to the Trail and see all the chairs.

“The auction is an exciting conclusion to the year-and-a-half-long Adirondack Chair Trail project that brought usable public art to Sandwich in a collaboration between the arts and local businesses. It also provided an opportunity to showcase 24 Alliance artists as well as 26 businesses”, added Aubin.

The Adirondack Chair Trail’s focus on artists, businesses, residents and tourists of all ages, plays an important role in bringing our Sandwich community together, and for our volunteer- driven Sandwich Arts Alliance, an opportunity to help fund future programming and events.”
