Queer Arts and Culture: Pride and Celebration Beyond

Queer Arts and Culture: Pride and Celebration Beyond

Presented by The Cordial Eye Gallery and Artist Space at The Cordial Eye Gallery and Artist Space

In the third of three workshops about Queer Arts and Culture, Students will explore through scratchboard art what Queer pride means to them either as a Queer youth or as an ally. The event of pride will be discussed during the month of June, but also have a stressed importance of celebrating pride even after the designated month is over. Pride will be discussed beyond the typical rainbow symbols. Pride will be introduced as a celebration of healing, love, and radical Queer beauty. Students will use scratchboard to illustrate pride beyond a typical rainbow. This can range from drawing their favorite Queer icon such as Ru Paul and Jojo Siwa or choosing a song lyric from a Queer artist such as Lil Nas X or Demi Lovato. Any other illustration that encompasses what Pride means to the student will also be celebrated. This virtual workshop is free to LGBT Youth and Allies. Materials will be provided.
