Beachcombing Field Trip

Beachcombing Field Trip

Presented by Cape Cod Maritime Museum at Veterans Memorial Beach

Saturday, Sept. 18, 10:00-11:00 at Veterans Beach, Hyannis (480 Ocean Street). Tickets must be purchased online in advance at http://www.CapeCodMaritimeMuseum.org/Lecture-Series.

Join us to learn about the marine plants and animals you can find along the Cape shoreline—mollusks, crabs, horseshoe crabs, sponges, seaweeds, and more! This is a great, family-friendly walk for anyone who wants to learn about the wonders of the Cape’s beaches and tide pools.

Gilbert Newton has been teaching environmental and marine science at Sandwich High School and Cape Cod Community College for many years. He has served as the director of the Sandwich STEM Academy and the Advanced Studies and Leadership Program at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Gil was one of the founders of the Barnstable Land Trust, and is past president of the Association to Preserve Cape Cod. He is the author of several books about the Cape’s shoreline.
