Book Signing/Lecture: "Shipwrecks of Cape Cod"

Presented by Cape Cod Maritime Museum at Cape Cod Maritime Museum

Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, 5:30-7:00 pm, at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum (135 South Street, Hyannis).

From the wreck of the Sparrow-Hawk in 1626 to the grounding of the Eldia in 1984, Cape Cod’s outer beach—often referred to as the “Graveyard of Ships”—saw the demise of more than three thousand vessels along forty miles of shifting shoals. Join us as Don Wilding revisits these and other maritime disasters, along with the heroic rescue efforts of the U.S. Life-Saving Service and Coast Guard.

An award-winning writer and editor for Massachusetts newspapers for thirty years, Don Wilding pens the “Shore Lore” history column for the Cape Codder newspaper of Orleans. In addition to Shipwrecks of Cape Cod, he is the author of Henry Beston’s Cape Cod: How the Outermost House Inspired a National Seashore; and A Brief History of Eastham. He is a frequent speaker at venues across Cape Cod.
