Learn to listen…to poetry.
Walt Whitman said, “I think I will do nothing for a long time but listen.” Do you ever wish you could stop and simply listen? Join this class with poet and writer Marjorie Block and...listen. Together we will stop. We will look and listen to the world around us inside and outside of ourselves. We’ll keep a list of what we see and hear. We’ll play with these ordinary words and use them to write our feelings into poems.
A secret: poetry lets you show how you feel without having to tell the whole story.
Most importantly I want to say we are not going to grade ourselves in any way! So come and do nothing but listen to each other’s words. Listen to the songs of ourselves.
Bring a notebook or a pad of paper and a pencil or pen that you like. Masks and social distancing are required, even if you have been vaccinated (instructor is fully vaccinated).
