“The iPad as a Plein Air Sketchbook”

One of the great advantages to drawing on the iPad (or iPhone…) is that it is so easy to bring everywhere. I have used my iPhone to draw while I am waiting for my partner to try on suits, on a bus, in the car while waiting for an appointment, in a park. Although there are styli that work on the iPhone, the iPad offers the big advantage of using the Apple Pencil as well as more room.
We will meet in a beautiful private garden which has been in featured garden tours off 6a in Barnstable village, and after a brief orientation where I cover basic drawing techniques using the app Procreate, you can set up and start drawing. I will offer help and suggestions along the way.

You will need your iPad and Apple Pencil and if possible, something to cast shade. I will choose a location where shade is available, but you will have greater flexibility if you have a sketching umbrella or something to shade your iPad screen. Please download the app Procreate before the session. If you are curious about drawing with your iPhone, you can use Procreate’s iPhone app, Pocket. The interfaces are very similar.
