This “open studio” style class allows ceramists with varied interests and skill levels to hone their craft in a collaborative setting.
Whether you are an advanced beginner, or you are a seasoned professional, this class will grant you access to asking questions and receiving personalized instruction from a ceramic artist with decades of making and teaching experience. Bring a plan, idea or inspiration to class, and we will work on getting you from point A to point B. Demonstrations are guided by student requests, and you can sit in on as many or as few as you wish. Sarah will provide a theme to add direction to the class, and will share a tip or trick from other potters and invite students to share tips they’ve picked up. Those little nuggets of wisdom that make making a little easier; filling in cracks at handle attachments, re-softening a piece that has gotten too hard to the perfect working consistency, throwing handles on the wheel, these are a few we will cover. You will get the most out of this class, and contribute the most to your peers if you have some familiarity with working with clay.
Classes also include ample access to the studio during posted open studio hours. Ceramics is an art form that benefits from practice and social time outside of class time. All classes include 25 pounds of clay, and the glazing and firing of those 25#. Additional clay may be purchased if needed.
