Canon Selphy Emulsion Lifts Printmaking Workshop

Students will make Polaroid-like emulsion lifts using a Canon® Selphy CP 1300 Compact Photo Printer in this 3-day printmaking workshop with artist Barbara Ford Doyle. After registering, students will e-mail several images to the instructor for use in class.
The workshop is an introduction to the emulsion lift process. It’s not necessary to have one’s own printer or paper.

Day 1: Introduction to Canon®Selphy CP 1300 Compact Photo Printer. Setting-up and printing of images. Preparation of Optimized Yupo Paper with DASS ART WonderSauce Clear®
Trimming and soaking images overnight.
Day 2: Demonstration. Making emulsion lifts, printing additional images, preparing Yupo paper, and soaking prints for day 3.
Day 3: Pushing the limits: Making larger presentations, combining media, using alcohol inks, collage papers, painting, stamping etc.

Materials fee $20 includes: Canon® Color ink Paper, DASS ART WonderSauce Clear®,
DASS ART Universal Precoat II®, and DASS ART Optimized Yupo® paper.

Optional student materials list: Clean electric frypan large (white lined is best) or a deep tray or plastic bin for water, soft rubber brayer 2" or 4" wide, foam brushes, blue painter’s tape, Viva towels, 11x14-inch plastic cutting mats, measuring cup, measuring spoons, soft fan brush, glue stick, thin collage papers.

Social distancing and masks are required.
