Ceramics 101: A Beginner’s Guide to Clay, with Corrinn Jusell

Presented by Meetinghouse Clay Center at Meetinghouse Clay Center

In this introductory ceramics class you will learn the basic skills needed to create beautiful objects for your kitchen, with your own personal flair. You will learn what clay is, how it works, the basic tools of a clay studio, and how to use them. Weekly demonstrations in both the potter’s wheel and hand-building techniques, along with personalized attention, will allow you to complete multiple pieces while also getting you hooked on clay in a friendly, non competitive environment.

*All classes include 25 pounds of clay, and the glazing and firing of those 25#. Additional clay may be purchased if needed. Beginner tool kits may be purchased for $24.

Classes also include ample access to the studio during posted open studio hours. Ceramics is an art form that benefits from practice and social time outside of class time.

The Meetinghouse Clay Center classes are limited to 6 students and the center adheres to CDC and Commonwealth of Massachusetts Covid-19 protocols for face coverings, social distancing and hand-wishing and sanitizing stations.
