Dahlia Popovits, of Dahlia Gallery in Boston, will guide you through designing and making a gorgeous hand woven scarf using colors and textures of your choosing.
The best quality designer yarns are used in the workshop, so the scarf that you will be making will be something of value, and will last for generations to come. We will be using a rigid heddle loom, with no previous experience required. You will go home with your own wearable finished hand woven scarf at the end of the session.
Space is limited to 6 people per session. You are encouraged to bring a friend and make it a fun time!
Dahlia Popovits has been weaving creative cloth for 40 years. She designs and handweaves all the garments and accessories in her collection. She studied painting at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, but she learned about clothing design at home. “My mother was a seamstress and a maker of everything and anything textile—she was really incredible,” recalls Dahlia. “I grew up with that and I picked it up when I was about five. I always enjoyed things like crocheting and knitting.” During her last year of art school, she took a weaving class on Cape Cod that ignited her love for the craft and started her on a career path that has spanned more than four decades.
