Flick Up! Free workshop for Cape Cod Teens

Flick Up! Free workshop for Cape Cod Teens

Presented by Cape Cod Museum of Art at Cape Cod Museum of Art

In conjunction with its Creative Outlets youth program, the Cape Cod Museum of Art (CCMoA) is pleased to offer “Flick Up!” – a Free Digital Imagery Workshop on Zoom for all Cape Cod teens ages 12-16. “Flick Up!” is a community outreach program that guides participants to chart their journeys during COVID through art. An innovative mobile app provided by project collaborator Expressive Digital Imagery  (EDI) Institute allows teens to express their  stories and feelings by transforming ordinary photographs into  thought-provoking new digital photos and text. These images will then be shared in groups. IPads and apps are provided to each student at no cost. Each of the three sessions will focus on different topics related to COVID, and the images will support discussion and engagement. EDI is used in health organizations state-wide, including the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and McLean Hospital, as well as locally at Gosnold.

Now in its fourth year, CCMoA’s Creative Outlets: Finding Your Voice Through Arts has joined with the Brewster and Mashpee Recreational Departments, EDI and Calmer Choice to offer these workshops during school winter break. Zoom workshops are in high demand by parents and caregivers when outside activities for teens are limited. Flick Up! is generously funded by the Edward Bangs Kelley and Eiiza Kelley Foundation.

Creative Outlets will run Flick Up! again during spring break with the Wellfleet Recreation Department. The hope is that eventually funds will be found to expand Flick Up! to all 13 of the Cape’s recreation departments. CCMoA’s Creative Outlets has put together a team of professionals committed to increasing connections between young people and caring adults by using the healing powers of visual imagery. Flick Up! is a cutting-edge approach that does just that.
