Metalsmithing Mastery: Adding Texture to Your Work

Metalsmithing Mastery: Adding Texture to Your Work

Presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts at Cotuit Center for the Arts

In this Intermediate/Advanced 4 week metalsmithing class with artists Laura Bouton of LJB Jewelry and Elisa Sullivan of Swirls Jewelry,  students will learn how to incorporate “texture” into their jewelry design. Using texture in your jewelry creations is a great way to add visual interest or focal points. Texture can create contrast within your design or help give balance to your piece.
Students will learn how to create unique organic textures using various hand tools such as hammers, files, jewelers saw, and flex shafts. Each student will also learn how to use the rolling mill to transfer texture to metal sheet that will be used to create their jewelry. This wonderful tool is a great addition to our metalsmithing classes and will help students bring their jewelry projects to the next level. All students can choose to make a ring, a pendant or a pair of earrings.
Material fee is $20-$40 depending on how much sterling silver/stones are required to create your project.
Masks and social distancing are required.
