Join Heather Blume and Lise Motherwell for a series of workshops which explore words, connection, resilience, and creativity in the face of COVID-19.
The pandemic has brought many changes to our lives: social distancing, mask-wearing, inability to travel, separation from family and friends, virtual connections and a slower paced life. It can leave one feeling isolated and uninspired. But, “No! This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.” (Toni Morrison, 2015). In this course, we will use art, words and connection to build on our resilience and spark creativity in the face of COVID. Each week we will provide different prompts for you to create art and then share both the work and the stories that inspired them. You do not need to be an artist to take this course—just a sense of curiosity and a willingness to take risks.
