Contemporary Handbuilding with Jacob Estevez

Contemporary Handbuilding with Jacob Estevez

Presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Handbuilding is a form of free range construction that allows the artist to express their vision in new and creative ways. This class is ideal for beginners and people of all skill ranges who wish to further their understanding of clay as a medium. This course will equip you with a variety of basic techniques centered around slab building. With these skills, we will take a sculptural approach to the functional form, breaking down the components of functionality while applying our own personal twist. If you enjoy being challenged conceptually while learning in an open, free-flowing environment, this is the course for you.
Each student will receive a 25lb bag of clay that includes glazes and firing. Additional clay can be purchased from the studio.
Social distancing will be observed and masks must be worn.
All tools will be provided but personal tools are welcome.
