Gather with us every week and be nourished through a series of 12 live Zoom presentations. Draw sustenance through substantial conversations on writing. There will be time for questions and a writing prompt to take away with each event.
"Opening to Wonder" begins this October with weekly events by Marie Howe in conversation with Walter Mosley, Carolyn Forché, Susan Choi in conversation with Michael Cunningham, Ann Patchett in conversation with Elizabeth McCracken, and Carl Phillips. The series continues with Sarah Shun-lien Bynum, Bill Clegg interviewing Lena Dunham, Vievee Francis, Ross Gay, Terrance Hayes, Brenda Hillman, Billy Hough interviewing Lili Taylor Hough, and more!
It has been devastating to be unable to meet in person within the Work Center's summer program community, the returning residencies, Summer Awards Gala and Fellowship programs due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, former fellows, summer faculty and guests created a virtual series to bring us together this summer. And now we have something very special to carry us, in each other's company, through the autumn and coming winter.
We need each other, and the Fine Arts Work Center needs us now. Like so many arts organizations, the Work Center has suffered deep financial losses.
The Opening to Wonder series will provide crucial support. Our presenters are donating their time, giving a gift back to the Work Center which has been a gift to artists for over 50 years. We hope you will consider donating what you can to the Fine Arts Work Center and that you join us as we journey through October, November and December - into wonder.
