Salley Mavor: Bedtime Stitches, an exhibition of 18 new sculptural embroidery artworks by award-winning artist Salley Mavor, is on view at the Cahoon Museum of American Art.
The artwork by Salley Mavor in the exhibition illustrates the children’s book, My Bed: Enchanting Ways to Fall Asleep Around the World, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt this September. The show kicks off a two year nationwide tour and will be on view at the Cahoon Museum from September 11 – December 22, 2020.
Along with the illustrations, additional artworks by Ms. Mavor will be on view, including two fairy houses, many of her “felt wee folk,” her well-known Polly Doll, as well as composition books and objects from her home studio. Also included is a doll house the artist built in 1975 while in college and which she has spent the past months renovating and redecorating. These additional artworks will only be on view at the Cahoon Museum show.
