The Sandwich Glass Museum is pleased to present several lightpaintings by artist Stephen Knapp (1947-2017).
Stephen Knapp was one of a small group of artists that worked with both glass and light. Formed at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and architecture, Knapp's lightpaintings are multi-dimensional compositions of pure radiance. His works were created by using a special glass treated with layers of metallic coatings that act as a selective prisim to separate focused light into diferent wavelengths of the spectrum. Knapp then shaped and polished the glass to make a palate that reflected light onto a surface and the surrounding space. Stephen Knapp's lightpaintings will be featured through December 30, 2020. This exhibit is made possible throught the generosity of the Stephen Knapp Family Trust.
