Rose is the Kennedy story as told by the matriarch, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy who lived it all. We meet Rose in July 1969 at the Kennedy’s Hyannis Port Compound, the week after Teddy’s fateful accident at Chappaquiddick.  She is being interviewed for by Mr. Coughlan who is to write her autobiography and she shares the highlights of her life, both humorous and tragic.  With her we relive her lively childhood as the favorite daughter of “Honey Fitz”, Boston’s first Irish American mayor, meet her first love and husband, Joe Kennedy, and travel with them along the celebrated road to the JFK White House.  We see how Rose struggles with multiple family tragedies and learn how her faith and family sustain her.  In Leamer’s play, Rose finds new understanding and of the choices she made as well as those made by her husband and children. Inspired by actual audio recordings Rose Kennedy made, Rose takes the audience on a fascinating and unexpected journey with someone we thought we knew.
