“I made the tactical error of inviting Monica Rizzio to share the stage with me at Symphony Hall and she went and stole the audience right out from under me.” – Tom Rush
The Fourth Fridays Coffeehouse Series, made possible by The Sandwich Arts Alliance and the Sandwich Town Hall Preservation Trust, returns to Sandwich Town Hall on February 28th at 7 pm with Monica Rizzio on the stage. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
A Cape resident since 2004, Texas born Rizzio joined the local music scene infusing it with an authentic sound reflecting her southern roots, a mixed bag of Americana embracing country, folk, bluegrass and jazz with a rich and soothing voice, both sweet and compelling.
Influenced by both her Texas roots and her Cape Cod home, Monica Rizzio has emerged as one of the finest talents in the East Coast music scene. Her debut album, aptly named Washashore Cowgirl, released in 2016, was her solo introduction after a decade performing with Cape based American pop trio Tripping Lily.
Her second album, Sunshine is Free, was recorded in Nashville with producer Michael Rinne and a lineup of guest musicians. Throughout this album, Monica appreciates the little things in life and looks for silver linings where necessary. With a keen ability to connect; her songs are often autobiographical but delivered through a fictional approach that aids in creating a universal experience for the listener - whether it’s expressed using her trademark sense of humor or with such striking honesty that the pain in her voice is tangible.
Fourth Friday Coffeehouse is a non-alcoholic event where all ages are welcome. Coffee will be provided by Cape Cod Coffee, and water and soft drinks will also be available for purchase. Snacks will be provided in February by Community Connections as a fundraiser.
