In this three hour workshop open to all levels, Leslie will show you how to make a piece of fine silver jewelry with PMC, an easy to use clay made of fine silver and organic binders.
You will create your own piece of silver jewelry in this three hour workshop. PMC Precious Metal Clay combines 90% microscopic particles of metal with 10% of water and non toxic binder to create a material that can be worked with as easily modeling clay. Objects can be made with simple tools, then they are dried and fired with a torch. . The clay can be shaped, and then quick fired, and will become solid metal, in this case, fine, pure silver.
You will learn how to manipulate the fine silver clay and fire (sinter) it using a kitchen torch. We will texture the clay with texturing plates, organic leaves, and shells. The clay picks up textures very easily. This is a fun class and no art experience is necessary to complete a beautiful project.
All materials and tools are supplied by the instructor, but feel free to bring items from home to texture your piece with.
Clay may be purchased from the instructor at the time of the class for $30.00 a package. Some students may wish to purchase more than one, so come prepared.
Workshop is $50, plus $30 per silver packet materials fee to be paid to Leslie on the day of the workshop. This event is limited to 10 participants, so please register in advance.
