Learn about art from the American Revolution!
Join Susan Pennington, fine art historian, and learn how the American Revolution influenced art during the era of Paul Revere. Paul himself was a fine artisan and craftsman although he is best know for the "Midnight Ride." This time of political strife and unrest led artists to take liberties to tell stories about how they felt or understood events. Although some depictions from this time are historically inaccurate, they effectively express societal feelings of discontentment and unrest. Susan will cover the history of the American Revolution as well as life in 18th century Boston. She will discuss various artists including John Singleton Copley, Gilbert Stuart, John Trumbull, N.C. Wyeth and Grant Wood.
