This six-session course will offer fascinating insights into Beethoven's lasting impact on music, which dramatically shifted the course of instrumental music and affected every composer after him. Topics will include: Beethoven's tumultuous relationship with his patrons and family members (including his nephew's attempted suicide), his passionate love for aristocratic women and his Immortal Beloved, and his struggle with hearing loss.

Beethoven's indomitable spirit and creative genius have inspired millions, creating a global phenomenon. You will become familiar with Beethoven's major musical works, including the symphonies 3, 5, and 9, his most famous works for piano, and his transcendent Mass in C, which will be sung by the Falmouth Chorale on March 21-22.
