The Falmouth Art Center will screen a short film about one artist’s extraordinary process for painting a seemingly simple image of an Italian cathedral. Filmmaker Charles Mann of Falmouth will be on hand to introduce the film and for a Q&A session after the film.
About the Film: In the 20-minute film, “Biography of a Painting: Marian Parry Paints San Gimignano,” the artist Marian Perry of Cambridge takes us through her process for creating a painting. She eloquently describes the challenges and satisfactions of painting an apparently simple Romanesque cathedral in San Gimignano, Italy. She brings her points beautifully to life by showing us the many sketches and color trials underpinning the final painting, thereby helping us to see the complexity in simple beauty. All are welcome.
