Every month we read a daring fiction or narrative nonfiction title & examine systems of oppression & means of empowerment through the lens of storytelling & the diversity of human experience. Join us!
What does it mean for an author to speak truth to power?
Can a book be daring to write, daring to publish, or daring to read?
In Punch Up Book Club, we read titles that deploy powerful criticism and rhetoric to dismantle power structures, rather than to harm those disempowered relative to the author(s) and publisher. Through discussion, we examine systems of oppression and means of empowerment through the lens of storytelling and the diversity of human experience.
Fiction and narrative nonfiction titles are chosen via suggestion by book club members.
Title selection, meetings and discussions are moderated by your host, JAM Trott.
