Take a walk on the wild side: paint like a Fauve! In this informal & social creative gathering, you will receive straight-forward, step-by-step guidance from one of the best colorists on Cape Cod – Susan Overstreet. Bring your favorite refreshments.
Matisse broke ground using bright color for expression and was the most noted of the Fauves or “wild beasts.” In the colorist vein we will paint Woman with a Hat (Femme au chapeau), 1905 by Henri Matisse
Acrylic paint, canvases, brushes, palette knives, palettes, easels and smocks will be provided. The class is open equally to experienced painters and to those who have never held a brush before. Each person will take away a painting along with new ideas about the creative process and visual expression.

Artist’s Statement
“Art is a soulful response to a subject. I am inspired by the people and environments of Cape Cod and places that I travel. My process begins with an emotional connection to a subject. I study how best to technically get this reaction on the canvas and then use my brushes and colors to convey my individual expression. It is a joyful challenge to hone an evolving, experimental, technical process that honors the world around us.” — Susan Overstreet
