How to Shape Your Story: An Evening With Julia Phillips

How to Shape Your Story: An Evening With Julia Phillips

Presented by Sturgis Library at Sturgis Library

Novelist Julia Phillips’ debut, “Disappearing Earth,” has been nominated for the National Book Award, praised as “nearly flawless” by the New York Times, and named one of the best books of the year by Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, and Vanity Fair. In this talk, she shares techniques for structuring, developing, and deepening your writing. By creating a seven-step outline for the fiction or nonfiction story you want to tell, you’ll gain clarity on your plot’s shape and characters’ motivations.

A reading and Q and A will follow this craft talk. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the event. Extra library copies will be available to check out during the month leading up to the event!
