This course will deal with both the creative process and the technical skill necessary to make successful photographic images.
Making compelling photographs requires the successful combination of two skills: the ability to see a photographic opportunity and the understanding of how to use various photographic tools to capture what was seen in the mind’s eye. This course will deal with both the creative process and the technical skill necessary to make successful photographic images. Students will learn how to use exposure, focus and composition for creative control and to create photographic impact.
This is a beginner to intermediate level photography course but students should own and know how to operate their adjustable digital camera (no cell phone cameras please). Students will be asked to participate in three photographic assignments, each of which will be presented and critiqued in class. Student participation in all assignments and classroom discussions will be an essential and important component of the learning experience of this course.
