Paul Wisotzky- Pots on the Wheel

Pots on the Wheel:
In this class you will learn all of the elements of making functional pottery using the potter’s wheel.  The class is a great opportunity for beginners to learn basic wheel throwing skills and also for those with experience an opportunity to refresh, refine and build upon existing skills. Through a mix of demonstration and one-on-one teaching, we’ll cover a variety of techniques, forms and functions. Class curriculum is also driven by each student’s interest and experience with opportunities to introduce more advanced techniques and projects to the group as a whole or individually.  You’ll take your pots through the entire process of making from the wheel to the glaze kiln as the class includes instruction and time to glaze and decorate your pots. The class includes open studio time in addition to the three hours of instruction each week.

Instructor Bio:
Paul Wisotzky makes pottery that is for everyday use. He strives to make each piece he makes a pleasure to hold and behold whether it’s a treasured favorite mug for a cup of coffee or a vase for flowers to brighten any room. He works in porcelain and stoneware and fires in reduction or soda atmospheres at his studio Blueberry Lane Pottery in Truro, Massachusetts. Paul has been a resident artist at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina and the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine.
