Winter Arts Exhibit at Cotuit Center for the Arts Now Accepting Submissions

Winter Arts Exhibit at Cotuit Center for the Arts Now Accepting Submissions

Presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Heroes and villains come in many different forms: From comic book characters to a favorite teacher to Mother Nature, heroes can inspire us to be better and do better. Likewise, villains from Darth Vader to world dictators to ocean polluters, show us what we can become when we give in to our darker selves.

We’d like to show our young audience your interpretation of heroes and villains through your artwork.

Interactive Fun for Kids

With younger arts patrons in mind, artwork for the show will be displayed at a height of 4 feet throughout the exhibit – right at children’s eye level – and some of the artists themselves will drop in to discuss their works with the students as they tour the exhibit. The visit to Heroes and Villains is accompanied by a hands-on workshop in the Art Studio, where students will create their own piece inspired by the exhibition.

New Direction

Now celebrating its thirteenth year, Winter Art was started by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) with juried pieces exhibited at Cotuit Center for the Arts. This year, the Arts Foundation is handing over the reins to Cotuit while providing funding through its AFCC Access program that will go to support transportation for schools to view the exhibit.

“Cotuit has done such a great job exhibiting Winter Art in the past that we look forward to seeing them take the show in a new direction,” said AFCC Executive Director Julie Wake. “This show has been a key component to arts education in our schools. Through AFCC Access, we remain committed to ensuring as many students as possible have the opportunity to learn from Winter Art and enjoy the work exhibited.”
