Ship of States Exhibition with Paintings by 2019 Muse Award Winner Robert Henry

Ship of States Exhibition with Paintings by 2019 Muse Award Winner Robert Henry

Presented by Cape Cod Museum of Art at Cape Cod Museum of Art

Gallery Talk September 5 at 5pm and a Guild sponsored speaker series talk featuring Mr. Henry will be held on September 21 at 1pm.

Exhibition Curator Michael Giaquinto’s statement: “This exhibition is less a retrospective and more of a current focus survey of Bob’s paintings. Working, along with Bob, I made these selections based on my immediate observation and Bob’s quiet passion for the paintings. You cannot remain quiet; your eyes move side-to-side, top to bottom, a journey for the site and mind, all the while struggling for words to express your feelings without sounding young of experience. Then you just stare and truly enjoy the view; with paint strokes moving, like words on a large piece of paper telling you everything about the moment the brush stroke was placed on the canvas; moving to its own rhythm, a rhythm conducted by the artist.

The installation is to bring out the strength of color and imagery. The placement of the paintings is important for the overall look of the exhibition and to allow them to “speak” to themselves and the viewer. The paintings work extremely well together to insure the viewer that this exhibition knew where it was going and where it came from, revelation happens, and we applaud.”
