The appeal of the monoprint is the unique transparency and quality of light, and layers of media which produce characteristics very different from painting. Yet this is the “painterly print”!
We will explore the many possibilities of gesture marks, ink qualities, improvisation with materials. There is an energy in the results that leads us with the spontaneity inherent to this kind of printmaking.
We will use Akua inks, a popular non-toxic product that uses a plant-based oil for easy cleanup.
Alice Galick has a teaching style for guiding novices and working with seasoned artist alike.
Monoprinting, trace monotype, stencils, and texturing tools, as well as additive and subtractive methods, will be explored. All levels are welcome.
