Featured Artist Laurel Wilson

Eastwind Gallery presents Laurel Wilson as the Featured Artist from Friday, July 26th to Thursday, August 1st. Her solo exhibit, “ Experiencing Cape Cod”, will include landscapes and nature close-ups from years searching for the special inhabitants and places that make her Cape Cod home unique. Done in a realistic style, her watercolor paintings are known for their clarity, balanced compositions, sensitive color usage, and fine detail. In addition to paintings, she offers tiles, cards and a few limited edition archival prints. A volunteer mudflat guide at the Brewster Natural History Museum, Laurel uses her art to interest others in the exploration of the natural environment and teach others to appreciate the beauty that is all around them. Trained as an art historian, equal interest is given to the people, cultures, and history of Cape Cod, her home for close to fifty years, and is reflected in her subject matter.

Laurel is recognized as one of the Cape’s best watercolorists and is honored to be a designated as Master Artist at the Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable. She also shows at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham and Falmouth Art Center. She has been a partner in six art galleries, now calling Eastwind her gallery home. She has shown locally, nationally, and internationally over her forty years as a professional artist. In 2019, she will participate in over twenty exhibits including the Bay State Open, Master Artists Exhibit, and The National (Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable), two weeks at The Cottages (Orleans, Marketplace Square, July 10-14, July 17-21), the nationally juried Festival of the Arts in Chatham ( August 16-18), the All Cape Cod Show and September Invitational show (Chatham Creative Arts Center), the 2019 Summer Exhibition at the Falmouth Art Center and a HyArts Shanty October 7-14 in Hyannis. In 2019, her work was selected for the New England Watercolor Society Regional show in Portsmouth, New Hampshire (June 1- October 13). She also shows at the Cape Cod Cultural Center and with the Yarmouth and Plymouth Art Guilds. She is a full partner in EastwindGallery, involved all twelve months. She has been fortunate to receive many top awards for her art, a fact she finds reaffirming that both her message and view of the world have been accepted, and most importantly, enjoyed.
