Queer Visual Representations & the Male Gaze

Queer Visual Representations & the Male Gaze

Presented by Sturgis Library at Sturgis Library

Popular culture has in recent decades represented  gay and lesbian lifestyle on television, in movies, and in print media. “Queer visual representations” will survey the phenomenon of the male gaze in art of the western world.  Paintings, graphics, and photography precede modern narratives and interpretations of queer American culture, often neglected and misunderstood by those looking in from outside the Queer Perspective. This art history lecture is presented in conjunction with  Mr. Childs’ display in the library's gallery space.
