Bass River Press Book Launch: Leo Thibault Reads from Bay Windows, Followed by an Open Mic

Presented by Cultural Center of Cape Cod at Cultural Center of Cape Cod

Come celebrate the launch of Bay Windows by Leo Thibault ... and bring a poem of your own to read! Thibault was born and raised in Greenville, New Hampshire, before moving to Cape Cod in 1974. He started writing seriously after his retirement from the Forestry Camp in Brewster in 1999. For a decade, Thibault was a member of the Salt Wind Poets, a writing group that was featured annually at First Night Chatham.

Since then, he has belonged to the Narrow Land Poets, a working group which began in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, and meets monthly. Over the years, he has attended workshops conducted by Galway Kinnell, Carolyn Forche, Martin Espada, Derek Walcott, Robert Pinsky, and others, including every Dodge International Poetry Festival from 1996 until 2010. His most recent awards have been at the 2016 Jacaranda Poetry Festival and the New Port Richey Art Festival in Florida, and the Veterans for Peace contest in Centerville, Massachusetts.

His work has appeared in Prime Time, The Cape Codder, and The Aurorean. Bay Windows is his first published collection. The reading will conclude with an open mic and a signing. Refreshments will be served. The event is free but donations to Bass River Press are most welcome.
