The acclaimed early-music ensemble SEVEN TIMES SALT celebrates William Shakespeare with spirited music created during the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras of the performances of his plays at London’s Globe Theatre.
This musical celebration will commemorate the 455th birthday of William Shakespeare. Seven Times Salt will present some songs the Bard invoked by name, as well as works by such of his musical contemporaries as Thomas Morley, Alfonso Ferrabosco, William Byrd, John Dowland, and Robert Johnson. Additionally, the Salts will read choice excerpts from Shakespeare's plays in Original Pronunciation. Dances from the Elizabethan and Jacobean courts--and a saucy ballad or two--round out the evening’s festivities! And an added cause for celebration: the release of Seven Times Salt's latest CD ,"Pilgrims' Progress: Music for the Plimoth Colony Settlers," recorded last year in the 1717 Meetinghouse!
Suggested donation is $15; and $10 for members of the 1717 Meetinghouse Foundation and for students. There are no advance sales or "tickets," but only payment at the door.
