Topaz from Topaz Labs software has become one of the most popular plugins today and it’s easy to see why.  This software can be used as a stand-alone program or with Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop and it can give you many, many different looks without spending a lot of time in front of a computer.  In this class, I’ll cover a number of the plug-ins that Topaz offers such as Adjust, BW effects, Remask, Texture Effects and Impression as well as the fairly new Topaz Studio which consolidates many of the existing Topaz plug-ins into one, easy to use application.  While Topaz Studio and many of the effects that it offers can be downloaded for free, you can also purchase their pro adjustments for use with this software which can give you the ability to remove noise and sharpen without removing too much detail, add radiance and glow effects, apply dehaze which removes haze, and a clarity adjustment which is just amazing.  Topaz also has a terrific and very effective masking feature built-in to the program which allows you to edit images selectively and you will also see how easy it is to replace a sky – all without having to go into Photoshop.  This is a hands-on class and therefore students are encouraged to bring their laptops and I will provide practice images where you will add textures, drop in a sky, and add painterly, artistic effects and much more.  Basic computer skills are required for this class – students MUST know how to operate their computer and locate files and how to perform basic commands such as copy and paste, save, save as etc.
