Ruby Rose Fox: Supernatural Love

Presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Ruby Rose Fox is a cultural messenger for our turbulent modern times. Her music is as sonically compelling as it is subversive, packed with lyrics that reflect and challenge our current political state, from #metoo to racism to mass-shootings. Part actress, director, and writer with eight music videos under her belt, Fox combines her theatrical experience with innovative storytelling and powerhouse vocals to creative a unique multimedia experience.

The Boston-based artist sings soul-driven, edgy indie-pop. Her soulful and mesmerizingly low contralto is an otherworldly take on modern indie music, and her lyrics empower the powerless and take on crucial issues.

“Salt,” her recently released second album, has been described as “an utterly cinematic piece of experimental pop that features dense soundscapes built to accompany Fox’s wall-shattering vocals.” The record, named for Lot’s wife, features nine “personal and political” original songs about “running away and not looking back,” Fox said. The album is not about escaping though. “They are not feel-good songs for a summer (day),” she said in an interview with the Cape Cod Times in 2018. “They are songs that make you think and reflect, and they’re songs that mirror the intensity and struggle of our political climate.

The album was recording with ASMR microphones, creating a rich ASMR-friendly soundscape designed to enhance perception.

Fox’s debut album, “Domestic,” was released in 2016 and reached No. 8 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Fox has won numerous awards including, in 2017, the BigRed Redline Roots: Best Musician and New England Music Awards: Album of the Year; and, in 2016, New England Music Awards: Best Female Performer and Boston Music Awards: Best Singer-Songwriter.

Fox will be debuting a brand new comedic, multimedia, and musical one-woman show (along with drummer and instrumentalist Andy Jones) called “Supernatural Love.” Fox will take us on a hilarious and harrowing rollercoaster ride of growing up both Jewish and fundamentalist Christian. She also tackles the unreliability of memory, losing family, and the fight for identity.

An avid supporter of young singers, Fox established the Gifted Voice Program to help provide voice or songwriting lessons to children and teens in Boston who cannot afford private music lessons. Funded by her fans and Music Drives Us, Gifted Voice has allowed Fox to offer students voice and/or songwriting lessons.

A show not to be missed!
