Tails of “Wicked Women”

Tails of “Wicked Women”

Presented by Cape Cod Museum of Art at Cape Cod Museum of Art

New England women are known the world over as the pluckiest, steeliest, and sometimes even
the most downright wicked ladies there ever were. And for every mother, sister, and daughter
born with that old New England steel in her veins, there’s a story of another wild Nor’easter of a
woman that came before her.

History teacher, folklorist and storyteller Jenny Lee will present an intriguing portrait of the
witches, wives and wenches of New England storytelling. You’ll hear about women who danced
with devils and rode on whales, women who sheltered runaways and captained ships, women
who were leaders and revolutionaries, lovers and troublemakers, rebels and saints. The program features both folktales and histories of the women of New England, from the witches to the poets to the mothers of the American Revolution!

The event is $12 ($10 for CCMoA members) and reservations can be made in advance at
