Receiving: Inspired by Buzzards Bay

Receiving: Inspired by Buzzards Bay

Presented by Falmouth Art Center at Falmouth Art Center

The Falmouth Art Center is partnering with Falmouth Academy to produce a special art show that will hang at Falmouth Academy as part of an upcoming concert.

The Tri-County Symphonic Band, a 45-piece orchestra, will perform a special concert, Postcards from Buzzards Bay, on Saturday, March 23 from 3 to 5pm at the Simon Center for the Arts at Falmouth Academy in Falmouth. Massachusetts.

Artwork inspired by Buzzards Bay created by Falmouth Art Center members will hang outside the concert hall for the month of March, to coincide with the concert.

Falmouth Art Center members interested in submitting to this special exhibit can bring their artwork to the Falmouth Art Center on Friday, February 15, from 9:30 to 4pm.

All Falmouth Art Center exhibition guidelines should be followed for submissions. Click here for exhibition guidelines.

The Tri-County band commissioned Cape Cod composer Mike Donovan to write a piece that give musical perspective to the body of water that helps to define our area. The result is Postcards fro Buzzards Bay, a seven-movement work that takes us from Dartmouth to Woods Hole and brings to life the many ways we encounter, embrace and endure this wonderful bay. The concert will also feature other works written about the bay and the sea. The Tri-County Symphonic Band will perform this concert twice, once at Falmouth Academy on March 23, and once at Tabor Academy, on March 24.
