This unusual and wonderful band plays ragtime music but also some other gems — things like the theme from The Muppet Show, a lovely version of “Danny Boy,” a Guatemalan folk song with Latin percussion, etc. – for variety, for humor, and to help tell the story of the music and the instruments. The performers all talk during the program, introducing each piece with short anecdotes and facts about the history of ragtime and the instruments. In addition to the upbeat fun of the music, audiences are usually quite fascinated with the visual aspects of the instruments and how they are played — something one doesn’t often see on the Cape.
