Enjoy Holiday Magic Events at the Atwood

Presented by Chatham Historical Society at Atwood House Museum

The Atwood House & Museum is offering a sleigh-full of activities and events to celebrate a month of Holiday Magic at the Atwood.  Exhibits throughout the Museum will be decorated for the season, to help you get into the Christmas spirit.

-  Most exciting, perhaps, is the return of Ryder Martin’s electric trains, filling the entire Main Gallery with local scenes, landmarks and, of course, trains! The display will run during museum hours every Friday and Saturday, December 7 - 29, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

- The Atwood Store sleigh will be open for our annual “Stuff-a-Sleigh” drive on behalf of Monomoy Community Services, where all are invited to donate new or gently used hats, scarves and mittens for children in need.

- Saturday, Dec. 8, will be filled with Holiday Magic. From 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., families can have “Grub with the Grinch” with holiday and Grinch breakfast food plus a special reading by the Grinch himself. Admission is $15 for adults; $10 for children.  For reservations, email atwoodmuseumevents@gmail.com with your name, date of event, number of adults and children, and we will reply with an email confirmation or order tickets online through the museum website at www.chathamhistoricalsociety.org.  That afternoon, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Santa will be visiting for our annual Hearth-Warming. Experience the Old Atwood House the way it was 200 years ago.  Enjoy cider and cookies and have pictures taken with our highly popular Jolly Old Elf. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children.

- Available for that special someone who loves all things old and new about Chatham is our exclusive “Double Take” coffee-table folio, featuring all the panoramas from the early 1900s paired with their current views displayed in our two part “Double Take” exhibit series.

The museum’s Gift Shop also offers a number of unusual holiday gifts, some locally made, and many items are included in our bonus year-end sale.

The Atwood House and Museum is located at 347 Stage Harbor Rd., Chatham, just down the road from the Chatham Rotary. Admission is free for members, $10 for adults, $5 for youths 8-17 years, and free for children 7 years and younger. For more information, visit www.chathamhistoricalsociety.org.
