Chatham Artist Peg Falconer Focus of Sunday Lecture

Presented by Chatham Historical Society at Atwood House Museum

Chatham artist and arts supporter Marguerite “Peg” Falconer will be the focus of the Sunday Lecture Series at the Atwood House & Museum at 2 p.m. on Oct. 21.

Domonic Boreffi, owner of Gallery Antonia and representative of Ms. Falconer’s estate, will talk about her life in Chatham and her legacy in “Artist – Marguerite Falconer.” He is the curator of the exhibit of Falconer’s works currently on display at the museum. Her works are available through his gallery.

Ms. Falconer (1919 – 2016) was fixture on Chatham’s Main Street for decades, painting in the front window of the McElwain-Falconer Art Gallery, shared with fellow artist Dan McElwain, beginning in 1968.

The following year, she called on fellow local artists to form the Creative Arts Center in Chatham. She taught classes there for years.

Ms. Falconer’s works are a part of the permanent collection and archives of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, The American Museum of Art at Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. and the Cape Museum of Fine Arts.
