All singers and orchestral instrumentalists are invited to join members of the Falmouth Chorale and Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra, under the direction of John Yankee, for the annual open community sing.  The event will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford Street, Falmouth, at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.  Doors open at 6:30 PM to allow singers to get music, find their sections and settle in.  Listeners are also welcome.  Music packets will be provided at the door.  A donation of $5 is suggested.

Singers and musicians will sing and play through a selection of beloved choruses from works by Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Vivaldi, Haydn, and more. Selections have been primarily drawn from Falmouth Chorale’s repertory over the last several years.  Among the choruses to be sung will be: “Introit” and “Kyrie” from Mozart’s Requiem; “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah; and “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” from Brahms’ Requiem.

A reception with light refreshments will follow to give singers and orchestra members an opportunity to make or renew connections, peruse information supplied by members of area music organizations and learn more about the 2018-19 season in music for this region.  “Mainly,” says John Yankee, “the open sing is an opportunity to make music with other people who love to sing, enjoy the variety of exceptional choral works, and to have fun.”
