The Cape Cod Museum of Art 2018 Muse Awards

The annual Cape Cod Museum of Art Muse Awards for outstanding contributions to the Museum and art community will be given out at the dinner.  This special award is a beautiful woven-glass bowl created by artist Benton Jones as a metaphor for individuals who are woven into the fabric of our community.

The Muse Artist Award will be presented to Suzanne M. Packer, and Joseph Carr will be honored with the Muse Benefactor Award.

Suzanne M. Packer became one of the first Trustees of CCMoA, then called the Cape Museum of Fine Arts, in 1984 and was appointed its first Director in 1985.  She initiated many exciting art and fundraising programs, began growing the permanent collection, and oversaw the installation of a donated building, the core of today’s Museum, on the grounds of the Cape Playhouse.  She was responsible for the growth of the Museum into 1992, after which she took up painting full time. Packer has been in numerous solo art exhibitions and her work is in many private collections.  She recently returned to the Museum as the Volunteer Archivist and was made an Honorary Trustee last year.

Joseph Carr is the founder of Joseph Carr Winery Napa Valley.  After 10 years serving as a world-class sommelier followed by ten years as an international industry executive, Carr set out to follow his dream and formed his family-owned wine company in 2005.  He recently added his Josh Cellars brand to his signature Joseph Carr Wines. An old-world style producer, Carr makes his wines in California’s Napa Valley.  He also has a home on Cape Cod.  As he spreads his winemaking philosophy of balance, sophistication and approachability in support of the arts across the Cape, we are very grateful that he has very generously supported CCMoA with his signature wines for many years.
