A comic operetta with soaring music by Jacques Offenbach, La Périchole follows the story of two Peruvian streets singers desperately in love but too poor to afford a marriage license. When the viceroy attempts to make Périchole his mistress, a secret marriage plot results in confusion, heartache, and of course, a happy ending.
