The Glass Art of Chris Belleau

The Glass Art of Chris Belleau

Presented by Sandwich Glass Museum & Historical Society at Sandwich Glass Museum

This creative and talented glass artist was trained as a potter as a youth in his home town in Wisconsin then discovered the fluid and translucent qualities of glass at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He eventually relocated to Providence, RI where his studio is located.  He is the only glassblower in Rhode Island that makes colored glass from the raw ingredients on a regular basis.  This allows for variations of intensity of hue, tone and depth which are not available with commercial colors.  He originally focused on the creation and production of glass flowers.  He has more than 30 flower forms ranging from familiar flowers and exotics to purely fanciful.  In addition, he makes different types of vases, paperweights, perfume bottles, jewelry and patterns of fish in nature.  Each object is a unique creation requiring intense concentration and often great skill to produce.

You will find his work to be more than challening, magical and certainly engaging.
